My take on the bonuses top writers have been earning and the discussion about incentive for smaller writers.

I’ve noticed that there has been a lot of buzz around the bonuses for top writers. There are people sharing their success at receiving them but unsurprisingly far more discussing their disappointment. I’m a new member and have only just started to see my stats start to consistently climb. I went from making pennies a day to making nickels and the occasional dime!

I joke but I’m in this for the long haul and I’m just happy that I’m seeing an upward trend. What it seems like to me is that people are generally find with this bonus program they’re just unhappy that it’s going to the top earners. Smaller writers feel left out and dejected. Especially when plenty of them started to push themselves in hopes of getting these vaunted bonuses.

I don’t believe there’s any problem with Medium rewarding their top performers. It’s an excellent incentive for writers who are becoming successful to stay on the platform after all. It is also a way to waggle a reward for smaller writers so they’ll strive to do better.

The problem that I see is that I believe Medium should have more focused programs to help invest in smaller creators. I know they have new programs along these lines coming along but we don’t really have any…
